This page explains what Wiztastic stores on people's devices, both on our own website and dashboard, and on our customers' websites through the tracking script.
We use one strictly necessary cookie. It doesn't need consent, and we use no advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
| Name | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|
wz_dash | Keeps you signed in to the dashboard and protects forms against forgery | When you sign out, or after a period of inactivity |
Your dashboard may also remember small preferences (such as column widths or the light or dark theme) in your browser's local storage. These stay on your device and aren't sent to us.
By default the tracking script stores nothing on visitors' devices: no cookies, local storage or session storage. Unique visitors are counted with a one-way code made on our servers from the IP address, browser details and a secret that changes every day. It can't be reversed, isn't stored on the device, and stops matching at the end of the day.
A website owner can choose to recognise returning visitors across days. If they do, the script uses the browser's local storage:
| Name | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|
_wz_v | A random visitor ID, so return visits can be linked | After the website owner's chosen period, or when cleared |
_wz_s | Marks the current visit, so pages in one visit are grouped | 30 minutes after the last activity |
The owner chooses one of two modes:
Whatever the mode, if a visitor opts out the script remembers the choice:
| Name | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|
_wz_optout | Remembers that this browser shouldn't be tracked | When cleared |
The script also honours Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control unless the website owner has turned that off.
You can clear or block cookies and local storage in your browser's settings. Blocking the wz_dash cookie stops you signing in to the dashboard. For a website you visited, use that website's cookie banner or contact its owner.
